Claudia Sutter
RESEARCH SCIENTIST & FELLOW
Claudia C. Sutter is a Research Scientist at the Department of Psychology at UCLA and a Fellow at Motivate Lab. Her research interests include understanding (a) what drives students to learn and engage within the educational setting, (b) how students’ motivation affects their learning behaviors and outcomes, and (c) how educational environments shape students’ opportunities to reach their full potential.
Coming from a family of teachers, Claudia fully understands the critical role educators play in shaping students’ motivation. She also knows that teachers are invaluable sources for maximizing the potential of educational practice, and seeks to build the bridge between research and practice. Claudia’s experience both as a student and an educator in two different countries - Switzerland and the US - helps her appreciate different contexts and understand how systems can cultivate and promote a more equitable learning environment that supports student motivation.
Claudia earned her Bachelor and Master of Science in Education as well as her Ph.D. in Educational Science from the University of Bern in Switzerland.
