In the state of Tennessee, 40 percent of community college students drop out after their first semester. The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) has undertaken several initiatives to increase students' adaptive learning mindsets and graduation rates. Motivate Lab has partnered with TBR to explore how student, classroom, and institution-wide factors affect the relationship between students' learning mindsets and academic performance.

Chris Hulleman and Stephanie Wormington recently discussed their partnership, initial findings, and next steps for this project with the Mindset Scholars Network. The research team is currently collecting qualitative and quantitative data from a wide variety of stakeholders to help the state design interventions that promote learning mindsets across different contexts.
